poetry 101

This is a short poem that I wrote while reflecting on John 3:19-21

There's a certain sense of irony
When the moon slips quietly behind the trees
As the sun appears to reveal the shape of objects waiting
That shadows form behind those shapes
Retaining darkness as it's waning

The sun tries desperately to consume with light all that it can see
But it cannot illuminate what our shape shields from visibility

The day goes by and the sun grows dimmer and dimmer
And it too slips quietly behind the trees
As shadows blend into the sky
Silence and darkness once again override

What about these verses? They give me more hope.

Joh 8:12 - Show Context
Then Jesus again spoke to them, saying, "I am the Light of the world; he who follows Me will not walk in the darkness, but will have the Light of life."

Joh 12:35 - Show Context
So Jesus said to them, "For a little while longer the Light is among you. Walk while you have the Light, so that darkness will not overtake you; he who walks in the darkness does not know where he goes.

Joh 12:46 - Show Context
"I have come as Light into the world, so that everyone who believes in Me will not remain in darkness.

The poem wasn't designed to offer hope, just an analogy of when people choose to hide their sin.

I believe that exposing ourselves for the purpose of support and healing is the better solution. We rarely overcome out demons by ourselves.

Like the last verse that you put. The point was that we don't continue to live in the darkness.

The irony is that although God offers us Light, many choose darkness.
