another quote from the radical reformission:

now THAT would be a trip...I am neither endorsing or rejecting the idea overall, but it is interesting to remember that back in the day, this was not abnormal. maybe the christian pub thing is, but christians talking about God over a beer or some wine was not.
just interested in what some of you would think about this.

in that same chapter in the book, it mentions people like Martin Luther, who obviously had a great impact, as beer drinkers.

just curious, how many men do you think you could gather regularly to talk theology, regardless of what they drink?

i think that you would get more people at a meeting over beer, but maybe not all completely serious on talking theology. i can imagine some people i know coming just cuz they wanna drink beer.

yeah but he's fishing for input regarding topics.
at grace baptist church's Theology Pub (see previous comment), they choose one topic that everybody thinks about beforehand so that they aren't just shooting from the hip when they get there.
i understand sammy to be asking for input on how often to meet, who goes, what exactly happens once everybody gets there? he's leading the pack, but he's also asking for input...i think?
i was just joking with that comment.
i like the idea of knowing the "topic" (however loosely it's stated) beforehand. it's always good to come prepared.
i also love the idea of people sharing their work. i don't write much beyond this blog and the stuff we sing together, but i would love to hear other people's stuff.

OK... i am all for this new adventure. but i think we may need to have it at a place where we can smoke a pipe or cigar as well. i don't think cs lewis ever drank a pint without adding the pipe or cigar into the mix. so i would love to be invited to the table.
beer tastes disgusting to me...i don't even drink it when I'm not pregnant. BUT my favorite thing to do is talk about theology.

If you guys need a Gal to pump this up...I'm your GAL!! I'm all for you guys making this pub thing happen. You guys NEED a 'cave' to be your barbarian selves and get away from us females. I hope it will be just you 'men'. (Us gals can always come up with ways to get together!)
Plus, if we 'tag' along, what if some of us gals don't smoke (I do), or drink beer (I do), or what if we've got something in the "oven" (not me!).
You guys should do it!! (So much that I wish I could set it up for you guys!)
Gals! Don't worry! In the end, they'll be coming home to us with refreshed minds, open hearts and smelling like smoke. But then again, I'd rather have that than them smelling like perfume!

Wow, sounds like fun, except for the beer drinking part, and the smoking part.... but I would love to join you guys, IF I'm invited. If I can attend, I promise not to be too shy and I will bring my well sharpened sword. Do you guys still do the movie thing? I remember asking Sammy about it years ago.....
