steve harvey is back in L.A.

i'm not sure if you guys realize that steve harvey has a new morning show on 93.5fm. actually, you guys might now know he ever left 100.3, or that he ever had a morning show. now you know.

i have a long commute, i know these things now...

anyways, he was talking about yolanda adams at the BET awards this last week. he was saying that she was receiving a lot of negative responses because she sang "sweet thang" in the chaka khan tribute (by the way, if you've slept on chaka khan or yolanda adams in the past, check out their albums. these are two of the greatest voices in music history).

turns out someone else was supposed to do that song, but backed out at the last minute. chaka khan asked yolanda adams to do it as a favor and she did it.

so now, all of the christians who are anti secular music are up in arms. "why is a gospel artist singing secular music???". i still don't get why people think this. i can see if yolanda got up there and started singing something extremely profane of provocative, or guest starring on a lil' john track called "send in the booty" or something.

anyways, here is why i wrote this blog at all. i wish i could post the audio of steve saying this stuff because he had me in tears. i almost had to pull over because i was having one of those delayed breath laughs. you know, the ones where you laughed so hard that you expelled all of the air in your lungs but your body won't inhale? THAT ONE.

steve put on his best stereotype preacher voice and whoever was in the studio was right behind him offering up the stereotype "mm-hmmm"s and "go ahead now"s.

steve: "church!..."
other: "go ahead now..."
steve: "you know that when you at home making love..." (edited for PG rating)
other: "mmm-hmmm..."

other: "preach..."
steve: "when you making moves on your mate..."
other: "mmm-hmmm"

** dramatic pause...soft music in the background.... **

steve: you KNOW 'his eye is on the sparrow' is not coming out your dang cd player!"

BWA-HAHHAHHAHAHAHH!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

i about lost it there. did he just say HIS EYE IS ON THE SPARROW??!! and you know they started singing the song. this guy is too much....
