things they should have elaborated on - part 1
this will be the first installment of "things that they should have elaborated on" regarding having a child. i discovered a very significant thing last night that should have been made clear to me by someone who has been through this BEFORE i had my son:unclear statement: there will be many sleepless nights when you have a new baby
possible interpretation: the baby will wake up every 2-3 hours crying because he needs to eat. you'll need to change his diaper and put him back to bed after that.
what they should have said: the baby will wake up every 2-3 hours from the 3 minute nap he took from the last time he woke up crying like a banshee because he needs to eat. you'll need to change his diaper, which is full of this really horrible black molasses looking turd, and put him back to bed (read: your arm as you walk around the room begging for death - see banshee comment) after that. thank the lord for your 3 minutes off...then repeat.
newborns are a rude awakening man...literally AND figuratively.

Post a CommentPablo: I've always wondered what people mean when they say "I sleep like a baby." What does that mean - they wake up screaming and crying every hour, in need of changing? I don't get that.
Congratulations to you and Sonia - Gabriel couldn't have a better set of parents.

Whoa! Didn't ya know?
No way do I wanna go through that.
(Unless God has it planned)
Well, I guess this will be some good bonding time.

jerks...
I slept great last night... (saturday)
Gabriel let me get a total of 6 hours. We'll see how long that lasts!
things I did say... "Madi has been the perfect baby"
did she wake up? sure. did she cryy inexplicably, yes.
Babies NORMALLY cry something like 1 and 1/2 to 3 hours each day until their 8 weeks old (and then if I remember the 8th week is a bit freaky, but then it dies down).
You'll have to read in BabyWise to get the timing specific, but it's something crazy like that and it's funny how right on they are about that. It made us feel normal for feeling frustrated with all the crying.
btw, Madi slept like 14 hours the other night. it does get better.
